Global Posture Reeducation

Is a unique and revolutionary method of musculoskeletal rehabilitation based on the use of inverse myopathic reflection. Active postures are worked through the technique “ decoaptação” , isotonic eccentric static muscle and increasingly global. Aims to go to the cause of the consequence of the problem, give good morphology and functions that are unique to the human body.

Indications:

  • Scoliosis, hiperlordoses, hipercifoses.
  • Spine condition. Neck pain, cervicobrachial neuralgia, torticollis, “dorsalgia”, acute and chronic low back pain, sciatica, sacro-iliac changes, disc protrusion, discal hernias true and false (pre and post operative), spondilolistesis.
  • Stiffness and joit pain, arthrosis, rheumatology, ankylosing spondylitis, coxarthrosis, epicondylitis ( Dupuytren’s, carpal tunnel syndrome).
  • Cavus feet and plans, hallus valgus bunions, neuritis planar, varus and valgus knees, hyper recurvatum of knee.
  • Numbness and tingling in hands, frozen shoulder, winged scapula, shoulder high.
  • Respiratory dysfunction, blocking inspiratory, pectus excavatum, hiatus hernia.
  • Contractures, fatigue and muscle cramps ( muscle hypertonia, stress).
  • Headache, migraines, vertigo source mechanics, torcicolo.
  • Neurological sequelae muscle affections, pathology of sphincters.
  • Sequelaes: Trauma, fractures, sprains, dislocations, postoperative.

+ info

Global Postural Re-education was established in 1981 by Philippe E. Shouchard.

It is a unique and revolutionary method of musculoskeletal rehabilitation based on the use of the reflection myopathic reverse.

Active joint positions in “descoaptação”, isotonic eccentric muscle of static and increasingly global. Aims to go from the consequence to the cause of the problem, and give good morphology that are unique to the human body.

IN CLINICAL PRATICE, BASED ON GPR:

Individuality: each person is unique and reacts differently, so the treatment must be individualized. All the aggression is compensated in order to prevent suffering or pain, so we should get from the symptom (pain), until its cause to totally eliminate the injury. All the treatment must be global, GPR means to stretch all the muscle groups (front, rear and side), while throught the postures stretch active and progressive.

TREATMENT

There are eight positions of Stretch, divided into four groups which are the solution for all types of shrinkage.

The positions are lying, sitting, standing and are elected on the basis of the lesion, the morphotype and immediate interest of the client. The treatment is carried out in sessions with the duration of a weekly hour.GPR is a smooth and global method that can be applied to anyone from age 7. The GPR is effective: in prevention of injuries and elastic body maintenance is practiced in the form of “self postures”.

INDICATIONS:

Locals: Recovery of muscles retracted and muscle contracture relaxation, in other words, gives back the original elasticity eliminating the joint blockage.

Gereral: Restructuring global posture with beneficial effects on locomotors plan, aesthetic, organic, functional and psychological.

Preventive: Occupational Medicine (postural hygiene), Postural Education (children and teenagers). Sports Medicine (rehabilitation and training) Birth preparation (childbirth and postpartum). Maintenance Gym for elderly adults.

Healing:

  • Scoliosis, hiperlordoses, hipercifoses.
  • Painful condition of the spine. Neck pain, cervicobrachial neuralgia, torticollis, dorsalgia, chronic acute back pain, sciatica, sacroiliac changes, disc protrusion, true and false discal hernias (pre and post operative), spondilolistesis.
  • Stiffness and joit pain, arthrosis, rheumatology, spondylitis, coxarthrosis. Epicondylitis, Dupuytren (carpal tunnel syndrome)
  • Bald and flat feet, hallus valgus (bunions), plantar neuritis, varus and valgus knees, hyper recurvatum of knee.
  • Numbness and tingling hands, frozen shoulder, winged scapula, shoulder high
  • Respiratory dysfunction, blocking inspiratory, pectus excavatum, hiatus hernia.
  • Contraturas, fatigue and muscle cramps (muscle stiffness, stress)
  • Headaches, migraine, vertigo source mechanics, stiff neck, crick.
  • Muscle disorders of neurological sequelae, pathology of sphinters.
  • Sequelae: trauma, frctures, sprains, dislocations, postoperative.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Cancer, infections, recent or severe cardiovascular disease, acute or septic trauma, acute rheumatic or surgical state, innutrition, psychoses.

Undesirable side effects

Muscle fatigue, parasympathetic changes, neurovegetative transitional.

Precautions

After sessions, be careful in operating machinery and driving.

Dosage

AGPR is a method of gentle, progressive and active stretching. In each session at least two positions are carried out, applied according to the weakness, pathology and constitution of the patient. Frequency: one session once a week or two sessions a week in acute cases.
